The National Folk Festivalkicks off Thursday night
Sun 28th Mar, 2010 in Local News
Staying in Canberra for Easter? And with good reason, The National Folk Festival kicks off this Thursday night at Exhibition Park.
With more banjos, fiddles and red-heads in one place and not a bogan in sight, The National Folk Festival, or The National as it’s known to the experienced, returns to Canberra this week. And at FasterLouder, we can’t wait!
Even bigger than last year, The National has a new addition this year with The Majestic Fringe including all the circus, cabaret, vaudeville, slapstick, lunacy and general tomfoolery you can take in.
The festival will see more than 200 local, national and international artists perform at 23 different venues at the EPIC site. There’s dance parties, street theatre, the ‘Kid’s Festival’, on-site child care, craft classes, singing and instrument lessons, even a circus workshop!
The food is delicious, the marketplace delightful and the cider a plenty.
Check out the program here and lots of other useful information for the weekend.
See yourself at the National Folk Festival from 1-5 April at Exhibition Park in Canberra. There’s more to folk than you think!
