Pixies back this August?

Having only just left the country after blowing audiences away on their ‘Doolittle’ tour, Pixies were all but ruled out as a possible headliner for Splendour In The Grass this year. That is, until they announced a one-off concert in New Zealand on August 3rd.
Late last night via their Facebook page, the grunge icons revealed they would be returning to the Land of The Long White Cloud, where just under two weeks ago they played sold out shows in Auckland. The August visit will see them playing one show in Christchurch, which they were unable to visit on their most recent tour.
With Splendour taking place at the brand new Woodford site in Queensland from Friday July 30th to Sunday August 1st, it seems that perhaps those rumours weren’t so far fetched after all.
