It’s a slow day, but the amusing (perhaps depressing) news that Andy Clemmensen has snuck onto the list of nominations for the 2010 CLEO Bachelor of the Year award has caught FasterLouder’s eye.

For those of you who aren’t in Year 8 and reading this in the school library, Clemmensen is the bass player and singer with Central Coast pop-‘punks’ Short Stack.

He’s not the only musician on the bachelor bill this year with Dave Rennick from Dappled Cities, Royce Akers from Hot Little Hands, Andy Bull, Channel V’s Kyle Linahan, Daimon Downey of Sneaky Sound System and Daniel Johns, who was recently thrown back to the bachelor category by Natalie Imbruglia, also earning nominations.

These unattached gents are vying to become the third musician to claim the award, following last years winner Axle Whitehead and Blue Wiggle Anthony Field, who took out the honour in 1999.

Several seeds sown by former bachelors from the world of music have also sprung fruit, with Rob Farnham (son of John), Jaime Reyne (son of James), and Tim Wheatley (son of Glenn) all picking up nominations to go with their inherited fame. Jethro Cave must be furious.
