Tame Impala’s debut album, InnerSpeaker, will be released to the punters on 21 May and to celebrate the band is heading out on a national tour.

Echoing the lighter side of Cream, Blue Cheer and Kyuss, InnerSpeaker made it in at tenth place on FasterLouder’s list of 2010’s most anticipated records

The album was recorded and produced by the band’s singer Kevin Parker and engineered by Tim Holmes from Death In Vegas in a mansion with 180 degree views of the Indian Ocean, before renowned sonic guru Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT) mixed the record in upstate New York.

Although some of the new songs were heard in the rain at the Golden Plains festival on Sunday, the tour will be the first time many of the album’s tracks will be heard live.

Fellow West Australians The Silents will provide Tame Impala with support for the tour.

i'm pretty sure it's just "Metroplolis" Fremantle. That's an awefully big venue, would be very cool if they manage to fill it up, but personally I htink their music is more suited to intimate spaces.. perhaps with some beanbags...

My bet is they will shut off the upstairs area at the Tivoli... like they did with early Midnight Juggernauts and Cut Copy concerts.

As much as I love The Tivoli, the tickets always seem to be a tad overpriced. If it's under thirty bucks I might go.

Have seen them 3 times (in 3 days, at the 'Greenfest' weekend last year, not really a massive fan i just happened to be there when they were on, haha), they're quite boring to watch, but pretty sweet to listen to, especially whilst drunk.

Their first headline gig in Melb was at the Tote (RIP) - I reckon they'll sellout the Forum.

Forum is sold out. Had the intuition to buy my ticket during the middle of class. Think I got the last one, found out it was sold out that night.

Well Innerspeaker is pretty rad.

Lucidity and I Don't Really Mind are both awesome tracks.

Though I was a bit disapointed last Saturda night when they played I Don't Really Mind as their last track at the Metro, as they didn't actually play it, but rather pressed play on the cd and then jumped around with a bunch of dudes from the supports (and Craig Nicholl's as well, apparently?) pretending to play their instruments.

they have a long way to go live on stage. ive seen them twice and they were fairly average on both occasions. but the new album is incredible. it has truly lived up to my expectations.
