Lou Reed coming to town
Wed 3rd Mar, 2010 in Local News
One of rock’s most enduring icons Lou Reed and his wife, experimental performance artist Laurie Anderson, will work together as curators for the first time with Sydney’s Vivid LIVE festival.
The two-week spectacular, which was curated last year by Brian Eno as the Luminous festival, will take over Sydney’s Bennelong Point, from 28 May to 11 June.
Anderson and Reed have promised to revisit moments from their past work, but the primary focus will be on exploration through improvisation and collaboration as they bring together an lineup of music, dance, film, theatre and comedy.
For Anderson the point is “to present a lot of things that you wouldn’t normally go to but gives people the chance to jump off their street. It will be kind of like a big crazy menu, it will have the things we like in it but it will definitely be really eclectic.” While Reed’s aim is simply to bring people to Sydney to witness events “that they wouldn’t normally have a chance to see or hear.”
For now the obvious questions are – does this mean a national jaunt for the pair? And, which of their famous friends will we get a chance to see on the lineup?
