To whoever said that Canberra is boring and the equivalent to a music-less hole in the ground, you’ve got to be kidding me. I would have to argue that this year and the last has only proved that Canberra is just as busy as any city in Australia. Here in Canberra, we’re very excited about how full our gig guide is!
This week, I’ve chosen a few gigs which will put a sizzle on the end of a hot February. This week’s pick(s) of the week are:
ARYTHMIA – EP LAUNCH!
– FRI 26 JAN / THE POT BELLY, BELCONNEN –
Some of you are probably wondering: who or what is Arythmia? Well, let us just say, they’re something a little different from the norm. The three piece creative are just a little bit indie, somewhat alternative and experimental. If it’s a new sound that you crave, then this is the gig for you. Get out of the city and find yourself at The Pot Belly. ONLY $10 ENTRY, STARTS AT 8PM.
MCARTNEY
– FRI 26 JAN / THE HOLY GRAIL, KINGSTON –
All the way from Sydney, the lovely Tim McArtney is to venture down to Canberra as a part of his More Love, Less Games Tour. Be prepared to be charmed, serenaded by Mr McArtney and his wonderful band. FREE ENTRY, STARTS AT 9:30PM.
HEART BEAT
– SAT 27 JAN / TRANSIT BAR, CIVIC –
In a HEARTBEAT, you can get on down to Civic for the city’s next biggest thing. If you like your indie mixed with fashion and musical mayhem, then this event is for you. HEARTBEAT is set to transform Canberra’s culture, thanks to our friends at Party By Jake. The first show kicks off this Saturday. FREE ENTRY! STARTS AROUND 9PM.
