Tomas Ford expected his Astor Theatre Disco Bunker show to be successful within his electro-disco niche in Perth, but he didn’t expect the reaction it’s had. Everyone in town, it would appear, is going.
When the show sold out in presale over the weekend, he was assaulted with emails and facebook messages from people who had missed out on tickets. Ever the accommodating fellow, Ford has added a 10pm show on the same night.
Ford says he has some amazing new costuming and video to complement the show, which has been designed around the room’s unique space. His theatre shows have a different intensity to them than a pub or festival set, and the audience always have a lot of fun. He is more excited about this one than anything else he’s done.
“In a theatre I have a lot more control over what happens in the room; there’s no distractions. People are really buzzing about this show too, so it’s going to be a great atmosphere to play in anyway, and then I’ll come out and add layers of insane fun to it.”
Both shows are on 27 February at the Astor Theatre. If you missed out on tickets to the 7pm show, you can get in to the 10pm one. Or if you did get tickets, you could go to both and see which crowd cops the most abuse.
