2005 APRA Music AwardsNominees Announced

The APRA Music Awards have announced their 2005 nominees list. Missy Higgins, Jet, Eskimo Joe, The Dissociatives have all been nominated in the Song Of The Year category. This nomination is voted upon by approximately 15,000 songwriters, making it the biggest peer voted music award in Australia.
Honouring Australian songwriters, the eventual winner in each category is decided based on APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) statistical data and analysis. Jet and Missy Higgins picked up the highest number of nominations, three and two respectively.
Bizarrely, classic songs Down Under by Men at Work and Love is in the Air by John Paul Young are up for awards in the Most Performed Australian Work Overseas categories along with Jet and Savage Garden.
