Applecore Backyard Festival
Mon 15th Feb, 2010 in Local News
Putting the humble backyard to better use than a game of cricket David McCormack [pictured], of Custard fame, headlines the Applecore 2010 Backyard Festival with his Polaroids.
They’re joined by the original line-up of Crow celebrating the imminent arrival of their new album; Jess Cornelius’ Teeth and Tongue band fresh from sets at Falls and Laneway Festivals; and New Zealand’s turntable wonder Alphabethead with an eclectic mix of hip-hop, post punk and free jazz.
The talents of Grace Before Meals, East Brunswick All Girls Choir, The Rebelles, The Orbweavers, Ned Collette and Wirewalker, Denim Owl and The Brutals round out the bill.
Crow, Dave McCormack and The Polaroids, Grace Before Meals, Sailors & Swine also play an Applecore sideshow in The Espy’s Gershwin Room on Friday 19 February.
The Applecore Backyard Festival is on 20 February in the backyard at 20 Pender Street, Thornbury.
Punters can turn up any time from 11am; with the bands on at around 12pm and playing until about 10pm. It’s a paltry $10 donation to get in and it’s BYO booze, with a BBQ in the afternoon.
The show will be broadcast on 3CR from 5.30pm for those who can’t make the trip to Melbourne’s northern ‘burbs.
