Fri 12th Feb, 2010 in Local News
Since its opening in December, The 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT6) has occupied South Bank’s Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), displaying the works of more than 100 artists from 25 different countries.
Placing its touch on the gallery’s popular Up Late At GoMA program, the APT6 exhibition presents Apt Up Late: Contemporary Music Of Australia, Asia and The Pacific.
The program allows visitors to view the APT6 exhibition in combination with a range of live music acts from 5:30pm – 9:30pm each Friday evening from February 19 – March 26.
Announced to perform at the Apt Up Late opening on February 19 are Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Megan Washington and a DJ set from New Zealand pop-princess Ladyhawke.
Continuing the musical performances throughout the period will be the newest recruit to Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and member of iconic Brisbane punk band The Saints, Ed Kuepper with his band the Kowalski Collective.
In addition to Kuepper’s March 12 appearance will be the solo project of Regurgitator frontman Quan, Sydney hip-hop group Astronomy Class, their Indonesian label mate Unkle Ho, Beijing electro-group New Pants, and Brisbane Indie-pop four-piece Little Scout.
Worth noting is the anticipated announcement of the musician chosen to close APT Up Late, with Queensland Art Gallery Director Tony Ellwood stating that ‘A special closing performance for APT Up Late will be announced closer to the date.’
