Chilli eating, yarn bombingand letter writing atCorinbank

Most of us have just recovered from the annual ‘summer music festival hangover’ and settling back into a 9 – 5 work/study routine can be tedious, but don’t slip into Canberra hibernation just yet – because Corinbank 2010 is creeping up and with just 15 days to go, there’s bucket loads to look forward to.
The Corinbank crew may still be keeping the 3-day official timetable reveal under wraps, but with the announcement of more than 20 Creative Campsites alongside legendary headliners; You Am I, Clare Bowditch, Ash Grunwald, Urthboy, Astronomy Class, Dalas Frasca and more, the timetable is promising to be a cracker.
The Creative Campsite concept is a signature Corinbank attraction that sees the average ‘ticket holder’ have the opportunity to get involved in the official timetable.
Festival-goers have the opportunity to walk through the campsite and visit Creative Campsites for all-sorts of community spirited, crafty, educational and zany activities.
Cook your dinner in a solar oven, sample some home-brew, or revive the lost art of letter writing (including receiving a real reply) at the cleverly titled Literary Revolution camp.
Forget your toothbrush? The Backup Plan camp will sort you out or test your orienteering skills at the Mapping the Bank camp. The little ones can learn to play music or make a clay sculpture at the Creative Kids camp, while the Yarn Bombing camp will teach you the finer art of knit graffiti, and no doubt leave behind a tree-cosy or two! If you’re feeling macho or just a little bit too sun-kissed to make sense out of anything, test your mettle at the chilli-eating competition campsite.
Creative Campsite Manager, Erika Alacs explains the Creative Camp program as an experimental gifting community, saying, “there’s no commerce in the Creative Camps, unless you count smiles as currency!”
The official timetable is due for release this Monday and if last year is anything to go by, it’s set to include a flurry of arts, dance, culture, environmental and music workshops – all included in your ticket price.
Final release tickets are selling fast and are available online now from www.corinbank.com. Stay tuned for the timetable announcement.
