In a reaction to the lack of response from the government following the recent closure of the Tote and with other live venues feeling the impact of the absurd Liquor Licensing regulations, S.L.A.M (Save Live Australia’s Music) has announced a rally to be held on Tuesday 23 February, commencing at 4pm at the State Library.
The protest will move along Swanston Street and up Bourke Street to Parliament House, where guest speakers will address the crowd, and hopefully a few quaking politicians, between 6 and 7pm.
The event will also celebrate the anniversary of AC/DC’s iconic Long Way To The Top clip [below] which was filmed on Swanston Street, with the Rockwiz Orchestra Lucky Luscombe, James Black, Mark Ferrie leading the protest on the back of a truck AC/DC style with Brian Nankervis plus the original troupe of bag pipe players.
If you care about live music in Victoria (and if you’re reading FasterLouder you obviously do) this is your chance to show the government just how important it is to fix the Liquor Licensing issues and support Melbourne music.
