SXSW send off shows

Punters in Sydney and Melbourne can send of the Aussie SXSW contingent in style with a pair of fundraising gigs.

The fundraising shows will feature some of the acts travelling to the States for the 2010 Aussie BBQ shows, as well as bands who have performed in previous years at South By Southwest in Austin.

Melbourne punters can catch Oh Mercy, The Wagons, Crayon Fields, Boat People, Pets With Pets and Summer Cats at The Corner Hotel on 23 February.

While Sydney gets in on the action with The Goldhearted, Goons Of Doom, Sherlock’s Daughter [pictured] and City Riots at The Annandale on 2 March.

There will also be a free BBQ and giveaways from Elwood Jeans at both shows

The cash raised by the shows will help support Aussie BBQ shows in Los Angeles, New York and at SXSW in Austin this March, which will feature sets from Dappled Cities, The Middle East, Kate Miller-Heidke, Karnivool, Philadelphia Grand Jury and many more.

Established in 2003, the Aussie BBQ at SxSW has become one of the must attend events of the SxSW program with more than 100 acts playing at the shows in the USA including Paul and Dan Kelly, The Temper Trap, Beasts Of Bourbon, Sarah Blasko, The Drones, The Grates, The Living End, The Panics, The Vines, You Am I and Yves Klein Blue.
