Get your diaries out, cos Brisbane Sounds annual showcase is locked in to rock The Zoo on Saturday February 27, 2010.

In its fourth year, Brisbane Sounds is a non-profit venture undertaken by some very dedicated local folk who have made taking Brisbane music to the world their mission – and doing it very successfully through their annual taster compilation CD of the same name.

The Brisbane Sounds 2010 compilation CD seeks to highlight the vibrant diversity of this great city’s musical community and promote it far and wide.

To do this, the brains and brawn behind it need all the funds they can get for distribution and promotion. So, the call to all of you, dear readers, is to get yourselves a ticket and get down to The Zoo for a night of mighty fine local sounds in support of this very worthwhile cause. You can even take a bit of it home with you as the CD will be on sale at the show.

So who’s playing this year? The showcase will feature alt-country, hip-hop, rock, indie and folk performances from The Gin Club, The Cairos and Grand Atlantic as well as The Coalition Crew, Lion Island and Dirtybird.

As an added highlight, each band will play a cover song of another Brisbane band from an era of their choice. Brisbane music from past to present, along with the Brisbane Sounds 2010 compilation will be played between sets over the course of the night to add to the ambience of the gig.

Additionally, the shooters from 2009’s awesome photographic exhibition UnderExposed, will have photographs from the Brisbane music scene all around the room and available for purchase!

With such a great line-up and the promise of truly Brisbane sights and sounds from now and then on offer at the showcase, there’s really little excuse to not get out and support Brisbane Sounds 2010.

Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets cost $18 plus booking fees and are available through Oztix, Posse or on the door on the night for $20 subject to availability.
