Daniel Johnston acoustic show
Thu 14th Jan, 2010 in Local News
Daniel Johnston has added a special acoustic show in Melbourne to his tour with the Laneway festival.
Johnston play the show at 1000 £ Bend on Tuesday 2 February following a screening of the documentary about his life and music The Devil and Daniel Johnston.
The film, which won director Jeff Feuerzeig the Best Documentary Director Award at the Sundance Film Festival 2005, weaves together vintage performances, home movies, dozens of recorded audiotapes and testimonies from friends and family.
Update: Pre-sales for the 8pm session have sold out, with very limited tix available on the door. But they’ve added a second screening starting at 6pm.
A ticket to either screening will get you into the acousitc set.
British music writer Everett True (NME, Melody Maker…and the matchmaker behind the coupling of Kurt and Courtney) has also been added to do an informal Q&A with Daniel Johnston. True is currently writing a book on Johnston, so he should have some good questions up his sleeve.
