Massive Attack touring inMarch

It’s safe to say that anticipation for Massive Attack’s long awaited comeback has reached fever pitch in the last few months, with the iconic UK collective teasing out their return with slices of new material, tour rumours and at last news that their next studio offering, Heligoland, would drop this February.
Whilst fans’ hopes for an Australian tour were seemingly dashed when it was announced the V Festival would not return in 2010, Massive Attack are on their way.
The news of a local tour for the Massive Attack clan comes straight from the horse’s mouth, with Grant – œDaddy G’ Marshall of the outfit confirming the tour in a chance meeting with inthemix’s Deputy Editor Dave Ruby Howe in New York last week.
Bumping into the Massive Attack mainstay at a swank department store in New York’s upper east side, Daddy G revealed that not only was an Australian run of shows on the cards for the UK group, but they were just a couple of months away. “When are we going to get to Australia? I think we’re coming in March or April,” the trip-hop pioneer explained. “I think it’s actually March. I’ve seen it on the itinerary, so we’re definitely going to make it over.”
Could the band’s arrival coincide with the debut of that mystery festival that had tongues wagging at the tail end of 2009? Whilst Daddy G could confirm the rumours, he did mention both Sydney and Melbourne as likely stops on Massive Attack’s schedule, leading us to think that it might just be going ahead.
