So Falls and Pyramid sold out ages ago and even though there still seem to be some punters offloading tickets you have decided you’d rather to see in 2010 with some great music without the hassle of camping – so what are your options?

The biggest line up has to be down at the Espy with Paul Dempsey headlining and easing things back to earth after crunch of the Tumbleweed, The Drones and Nick Oliveri. Little Red, Regular John, Howl, Shamon Son, Oh Mercy, The Gin Club, Ouch My Face, The Fumes, The White Goods, Spun Rivals, Alba Varden and Papa Vs Pretty round out the epic Espy lineup.

The crash helmet rock of Bob Log III [pictured] serves up his boob scotch at the The Tote with support from the Puta Madre Brothers, Midnight Woolf, Matt Sonic & The High Times and plenty more in the main room and Cobra Bar.

Cherry Bar promises an ocean of black to rival Sensation’s sea of white and they have far better music with Digger & The Pussycats and The Redcoats attacking the countdown.

At one of Melbourne’s favourite drinking dens – Yah Yahs – 6 Ft Hick play a free gig, while The Sandbelt in Moorabbin also goes in for rock and roll bluster with the Gun Street Girls and Kill Devil Hills.

It’s Soul-A-Go-Go down at the Laundry with two rooms – one for soul, the other funk – and a list of DJs who know their grooves: Vince Peach, Pierre Baroni, Richie 1250, Andrew Young, Miss Goldie, Zack, Mistarex and Brad Spolding.

The Corner has party hip-hip with Lyrics Born and full live band plus locals Low Budget and MzRizk; Soulwax’s Dewaele Brothers smash things up at the Palace as 2manydjs; and it’s New York City’s left-field disco at The Toff in Town with Lovefingers supported by an Architecture in Helsinki DJ set.

Hipster favourites Rat Vs Possum headline the Exo Records party at the East Brunswick Club with The Diamond Sea, Teen Archer and Brooklyn’s Love Or Perish.

Next! celebrates the incoming year in Beach Party style with a line-up headed by the melodic hardcore of Perth’s Break Even joined by I Explode Like, First Base, At War With Gods and Built on Secrets representing a diverse range of melodic rock, to energetic punk all the way through to metal.

At Ding Dong Weekender presents “The Kids Are All Night 2” with Me playing live and DJ’s Steve Wide, Dave Shaw and DJ Gregory spinning indie faves from the last ten years.

The free entertainment in the Alexandra Gardens includes live music as well as the fireworks over the city with The Wellingtons, Jess McAvoy, Ronit, From The Ashes, Matt Walker and others bringing in the New Year.

Whatever you do have a great night and a fantastic 2010!
