Already set to bring the good vibes to Playground Weekender, The Polyphonic Spree has been announced as headliner of the SoCo Carnivale Tour. The sprawling collective will journey from Brisbane to Melbourne in February, leading “a fancy dress party inspired by the spirit of New Orleans Carnivale”.
Tim DeLaughter last brought his 18-strong cohort down here for Splendour In The Grass 2008, with our reviewer marvelling at their “brilliant musicianship, copious charisma and inspiring subject matter”. On the Carnivale tour, the Spree will be joined by The New Orleans Bingo! Show; a rollicking mix of theatre, music, multimedia, dance and of course bingo.
The Polyphonic Spree head up the SoCo Carnivale Parade at the following venues in February. Tickets on sale now.
Friday 19 February – Brisbane Powerhouse, Brisbane
Saturday 20 February – Playground Weekender, Sydney
Wednesday 24 February – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide
Friday 26 February – Fremantle Arts Centre, Fremantle
Saturday 27 February – The Forum Theatre, Melbourne
