After the grand flourishes of previous effort Young Modern, Silverchair is apparently bringing back the grit on album number six. Speaking to triple j’s Robbie Buck recently, frontman Daniel Johns hinted at what to expect from the 2010-slated release.
“I guess it’s dirtier, it doesn’t feel as polished and pop but the main difference is there’s a lot more experimentation with instruments,” Johns revealed in the interview. “I think there’s only guitar on about four songs so far out of fifty…so I’ve got synthesisers. It’s weird, because it sounds like there’s a lot more going on than there actually is on a lot of the tracks.”
The news that the album is coming together will be heartening for fans, after learning that the three-piece had retreated to “a remote studio” earlier this year.
