The tables are nearly in place, the photographer is cleaning her lens, the racks are freshly organised and the beer is ice cold and the bands are tuning up. The first Blackbird Summer Market is so close we can taste it!

Held at the Newtown Workers Club on 5 December, the Blackbird Summer Market is the perfect way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon. More than just your average market, Blackbird combines all of our favourite things – music, food, drinks, art and shopping into one location.

This isn’t an overpriced op-shop of somebody’s old smelly rubbish, this is all about Vintage fashion and up and coming Australian fashion, jewellery design and art.

There’ll also be a free photobooth in the courtyard, the chance to have your New Year’s fortune read by the Tarot Reader and food and drink specials from the bar.

Local bands Skye Harbour [pictured], Love Connection and Maudita will provide a live soundtrack far superior to the muzak carols you’ll be forced to endure when shopping anywhere else at the moment. Maudita are on stage at 1pm, Love Connection at 2pm and finally Skye Harbour at 3pm.

Plus everyone through the door on Saturday will receive a raffle ticket with the prizes drawn hourly. Shopping, bands, beer and prizes – you can’t loose!
