On 19th December, the Dean Turner Benefit Show will be hosted at The Zoo. The show will be an opportunity for bands and fans to pay homage to the recently passed Magic Dirt bassist.
Dean Turner was only 37 when he died of a rare form of tissue cancer this August. The show will be raising money for his two young daughters’, Charlie and Evie’s, trust funds.
As a musician, manager, mentor and producer, Turner was an asset to Australia’s music industry. He gave many up-and-coming bands a leg up, and continues to inspire young artists. He was often described as the heart and soul of Magic Dirt, and a very generous and dedicated man; to his music and to his family.
It is with this view that the benefit concert is offering a few bands a chance to give something back. On the night, local Brisbane bands Sixfthick , Screamfeeder , Giants of Science and The Hymies , will perform a Magic Dirt song of their choice as a tribute to Turner. Magic Dirt video clips will also be played, limited edition merchandise will be available for purchase, and raffles and giveaways will be going throughout the night.
Tickets $15 + Bf, or $18 on door
