TAKE A LOOK INTO FASTERLOUDER’S ‘BIG DAY OUT 2010 CRYSTAL BALL’.

After much speculation, the final installment of acts has arrived for Big Day Out 2010. With all shows sold out in record time, BDO has rolled its second and third announcements into one bumper list.

Heading up this new injection of talent are Shaka Rock men Jet and indie-folk oddball Devendra Barnhart. True to prediction, much-hyped five-piece Passion Pit has also been added alongside 2009 alumni Simian Mobile Disco in DJ mode, festival kings Hilltop Hoods, Paul Mac’s outfit of old Itch-E and Scratch-E and soundscapers Decoder Ring.

Same place as the rest of the rumours that never really had any chance of eventuating. Phoenix better play Adelaide on their supposedly upcoming tour.

didn't get a ticket so i'm glad the second announcement sucks as bad as the first, though if there'd been someone good sideshows would have been nice. it can only get better in 2011.

Normally wouldn't bother complaining about festival lineups, but this is pretty boring..
Jet are the only one that interests me, because I haven't seen them for years. The Middle East would have been good, but only it's only East coast shows...
At least I kind of like the first announcement.

Big Day Out is now a big mainstream festival.

The other festivals that have popped up in recent years that have a more niche lineup have essentially forced Big Day Out into a more commercial space.

I don't see what everyone is complaining about really. 80% of the people who attend Big Day Out would not have heard of half the bands people keep mentioning as either the bands they want to see or as "rumours".

Simian Mobile Disco was 'meh' last year, but I saw them DJ in London and it was really fun. So DJ set sounds good.

Yeah, I found the Boiler Room too cavernous for them. The sound distorted, bounced around the walls, etc. Too many tracks had a fairly generic electro sound to them, and it was like 40 degrees in there. Dunno. Just didn't translate.

very lacklustre. i'd offload my ticket if it weren't for the fact that i had so much fun this year after only really caring about two bands. that and it's the only festival all my friends are ver organised enough to go to so we make a big weekend of it.

still, lineup will have to be amazing for me to go in 2011.

it's funny how people are shocked that the second lineup didnt produce much excitement.
first headliners were muse and powderfinger... was anyone really expecting anything with the second announcement?
a second lineup is never going to outdo a first and that says something about what this second lineup was going to be like.
that said, i want to get a ticket now because it will be worth seeing passion pit, sugar army and decoder ring

I think people are just sad that the middle of the road bands from 07 are headlining this year, and well...this is just evolution and i'm not saying its wrong, i'm just saying all the headliners should not all be from 07? Though you can understand people being upset when you look and see those bands and no Tool, Violent Femmes or My Chemical Romance to back them up this year.
