Already confirmed as the headliner for Falls, Southbound and Sunset Sounds festivals, Karen O and her boys have just announced they will also be playing two additional shows whilst in the country over New Year’s Eve.

Having made a scorching return to the scene in April with the release of their disco-infused third album It’s Blitz, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be ensuring that the kids are gesticulating as wildly as their front-woman when they – œbring the synth’ at their two all ages shows this January.

You can do your best Karen O impersonation at the following shows:

Tuesday 29th December – Festival Hall, Melbourne
Friday 8th January – Hordern Pavillion, Sydney

Tickets on sale Tuesday 17th

Do people expect the Hordern to sell out quickly? Had set that night aside for the Neon Indian sydney show that to my knowledge hasn't been offically confirmed.. YYY's are almost certainly going to scale back the synth on the next album and subsequent tours so I'm hesitant to pass this up.. Two favourite records of the year..tough decision..

They are supporting Chairlift on the 7th as well you know. I also thought it was common knowledge that they are playing the empire on the 8th.

This will sell out. The new album has much more popular mainstream appeal and as a result more casual fans will be in attendance.

The Chairlift dates are not on their myspace and manning website says The Phenomenal Handclap Band are supporting instead. Im assuming the empire show is still on but due to the errors in the pitchfork report so far I was hoping for a more official local notice by now.

Every 16 year old "arty" MGMT-loving indie girl on my facebook newsfeed is having spasms over this show. As are all the "I go to warehouse shows because real shows aren't authentic" types.

It will sell out, there will be a second show announced, It's Blitz will break the ARIA top 5 when they tour, their next album will go gangbusters and lead to an arena tour.

And I'll still be overseas, shitted

Zero, Parlez Vous Francais, 1901/Lisztomania, Chase That Feeling, jamie T's Sticks and Stones, and that Unearthed song about having breakfast.

YYY's are one of my fave bands of the decade so im devastated that i wont be in sydney early jan in 2010.

i absloutely love yeah yeah yeahs, but i don't understand how with every band how no one ever does any wa sideshows. i understand with bdo festivals etc cos bdo is mainly overeast. what i don't understand is that southbound is in busselton wa and there isn't any sideshows for wa?? i thought there would be considering they are travelling all that way to play for the festival and it isn't in any other states. doesn't make sense to me. bands obviously hate our guts haha. oh well maybe i'll get to see them live one day. that's my rant :)

i think perth just isn't viewed as a major city of oz... sure its big but some bands just decide to do the 'major cities' thing and not visit smaller major cities??

What's it got like 1/3rd of the pop of syd? and syd shows havent sold out...
