Melbourne’s hard rocking Mammal have broken up.

In a statement released to fans the band claim that “Due to long standing personal, political, musical and business differences, Mammal has decided it cannot continue and is no more…”

Frontman Ezekiel Ox will release the debut album from his The Ox And The Fury project in early 2010, as well as continuing to work with super-producer and long time friend Forrester Savell under the name Smash Nova.

Ox’s bandmates Pete Williamson, Nick Adams and Zane Rosanoski will continue to work together with a new project scheduled for 2010.

Sadly the break up caused the last minute cancellation of a gig scheduled for 31 October at Space Nightclub in Sydney. The sudden decision has also led to the cancellation of two Victorian all-ages gigs, 15 gigs in the UK supporting The Answer and appearances at Dreamworld for New Years Eve and on the bill at Solar Music Festival.

Oh n0333es I have no idea because I hurtz ur feelings about ur shit bands?

Mate I went through that genre circa the late 90's, when it was remotely fresh. IE the first round of aussie bands influenced by Tool to some extent. Was even actually INTO TBE circa 2000 when 'nu metal' was fresh and I was a silly teen with poor music taste.

Saw Full Scale many a time. Even was at a show at the dale when Ox joined clint of tbe onstage. A mate from Brissy hooked me up with TBE before they played Syd shows at the dale.

So I've got a pretty good grounding in that genre (unfortunately)

But the fact of the matter is, 10 years on. Its fucking yawnsville.

Somehow Karnivool overtook TBE as the premier blue singlet working touring band. No doubt after TBE started recycling their own albums and touring overseas like work-aholics.

Dealing with Karnivool's first LP (which was remotely ok) was pain enough hearing the dead and dull genre still going.

But then now having other bands jump on board doing EXACTLY the same thing.... all the dead-letter bands etc..

And I haven't mentioned the 100's of shitty shitty bands that I've seen over the years that sound exactly like karnivool/tbe/tool that have fallen apart and never gone anywhere.

It's painfull, it really is.

I'll quote Kim Gordon when asked why Led Zeppelin sucks

"Because of all of the shitty cover bands over the years"

The whole deliver operatic epic vocals over tool drum rhythms and epic 'blow ur load' riffs / delayed down-tuned clean tone is just shit

It's taken too seriously, its become dull, dead, boring and contrived.

And it's only raved about by bogans.

If your a bogan.... then fine don't listen to me and Enjoy it... whatever.

Did a bogan spill a drink on you whilst you were in a Karnivool mosh pit or something?

I can understand your reason for hating these bands. And its fair enough. I love Karnivool....couldnt care for TBE, but Mammal (which is the band we are talking about) are nothing like you describe "Down tuned delayed riffs" hahaha it sounds like some Sun Herald hack trying to use what they think are 'in-depth' musical terms.

Either way, these guys work their arses off. Despite what you think. They tour their arses off. They do all this on enough money to fill their tanks and pay for flights. its not an easy life.

And the bogan thing. Shit...just because a few bogans like their music, doesnt mean they themselves are a bad band. Hell, just go to parklife and you will see more bogans dressed in fluro that you will see at any Karnivool/Mammal gig.

And no, i am not a bogan. Not as far as i can tell anyways.

Oh and please, keep your 'in-depth' musical terms coming....

good lord, if we were to base our musical taste solely on what these rockstars sprout on a whim in their myriad of interviews then we would forever be chasing our tails,
take these comments with a grain of salt.
tool are one of my favourite bands and the amount of bogans spoiling it at their big day out performance was astounding, but i dont hold that against the band.
