Duckpond, a co-founder of the Big Day Out’s Lilypad, presents Microfestival at urban oasis of Ceres on Saturday 31 October.
The festival brings together an eclectic program of artistes to perform including The Frowning Clouds, Ned Collete, Koko~Nuts!, Clinkerfield, The King Cannons, Toot Toot Toots, Clairy Baby Browne and the Bangin Rackettes, Kiddyrock Show and The Pulse. The eccentric DJ lineup features Andee Frost (House of Frost) Hannah Fox (Sweet Jelly Roll) plus Heavy G and Christo from the Lilyworld.
The festival at Ceres will raise funds in preparation for a tour of regional Victoria, scheduled for the school holidays of April 2010. In their own words “Microfestival is committed to creating opportunities for young people in regional and remote areas to participate and experience arts, music, culture and the inventive and creative deployment of alternative and sustainable technologies”.
Some of the weird and wonderful alternative technologies on show at Ceres include live bunny rabbit painting, Theremin 101, Halloween lantern making and telephones charged by onions.
The licensed all ages event runs from 2.00pm – 9.00 pm at the Ceres village green on the corner of Roberts and Stewart, St Brunswick East.
