Recent weeks have seen an attempt to merge a skating extravaganza with a music festival crash to earth like an overweight teenager in a suburban halfpipe. But how about a pairing a more sedate sporting event with a line up of Aussie rock heroes?
The latest attempt to try to fill our seemingly insatiable appetite for music festivals with “A Walk in the Park” – a Mark Twain referencing outdoor rock concert right on the golf course featuring The Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I, Dallas Crane, The Pictures and Kisschasy.
The golf – œaction’ will star 10 PGA men competing with 10 ALPG women over a reduced 9 hole shoot-out which they claim will speed up the action “much like limited overs cricket”. They’re also throwing in skateboarding, BMX dirt jumping and a show of the hot rods and modern supercars just in case watching a half game of golf is only half as dull as watching a full round.
It tees off on Saturday 19 December at Albert Park Golf Course.
