Coppel confirm no V Festival

With news reaching the papers over the weekend indicating that V Festival had been shelved for 2010, promoters Michael Coppel Presents have confirmed that after three years working on the tour, they’ll no longer be a part of the brand. The V Festival was the result of a partnership between Coppel and the Virgin Group, but the two companies won’t be working together on the festival next year.

“For the past three years, the Virgin Group and Michael Coppel Presents have worked together to deliver the acclaimed V Festival to Australian audiences. The presentation of V Festival in 2009 concluded this arrangement, and the partnership is not being renewed.”

The statement doesn’t rule out the V Festival returning to Australia in the future under the wings of a different promoter, with the Virgin Group set to make further announcements on the status of V Festival in the coming months. However, it’s definitely looking shaky in terms of the brand making any kind of appearance in 2010.

Coppel have also hinted they’ve got other festival-related projects on the boil. “Michael Coppel Presents will also make further announcements regarding future festival presentations during 2010.”

Stay tuned to FL for updates.
