Laneway Festival 2010 line-up

LOOKING FOR THE 2011 LANEWAY LINE-UP? CLICK HERE.

GO WILD IN THE NEW LANEWAY FESTIVAL FORUM!

This is undoubtedly the most exciting line-up announcement St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has made in its five-year history. Not only does the 2010 bill feature at least five artists that have never toured Australia, the Melbourne and Sydney events have two amazing new locations and the festival has added a New Zealand date.

Heading up the 2010 Laneway parade is influential UK post-punk legends Echo & The Bunnymen and infamous singer-songwriter and subject of the 2006 documentary The Devil and Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston.

The local contingent includes Melbourne favourites Eddy Current Suppression Ring, a now ARIA-nominated Dappled Cities and Townsville talent The Middle East.

The St Jerome’s Laneway Festival line-up for 2010 looks like this. CHECK OUT THE 2010 LINE-UP SHOWCASE GALLERY HERE. Tickets on sale Friday 30 October.

Echo & The Bunnymen
Florence & The Machine
Black Lips
The XX
Daniel Johnston – No Adelaide
Sarah Blasko
N.A.S.A
Eddy Current Suppression Ring
Hockey
Dappled Cities
Mumford & Sons – No Adelaide
The Very Best
Radioclit
Wild Beasts – No Adelaide
Whitley
The Middle East
Kid Sam
Dirty Three – Melbourne only

But wait, there’s more. In response to the licensing and crowd issues they faced at the 2009 Melbourne event, the Laneway promoters have spent the year searching for a new spacious location for 2010, and we think M-town will be more than happy with what they have come up with.

The Melbourne event will take place at the luscious Footscray Community Arts Centre which may not have many laneways, but sure has killer views. Our Melbourne Editor Tom Mann was lucky enough to take a walk through the site not long ago – you can read all about the venue here.

Watch a video walk-through of the new venue by festival promoter Danny Rogers here, or check out this special photo gallery of the site.

Sydney have also got an upgrade, with this year’s event moving to the Sydney College of The Arts, which is set amongst scenic Parklands and boasts views of the Harbour.

FasterLouder Presents St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival:

Friday 29 January Brisbane Alexandria St off St Paul’s Terrace, Fortitude Valley (Twilight event)

Saturday 30 January Melbourne Footscray Community Arts Centre (FCAC)

Sunday 31 January Sydney Sydney College of the Arts (SCA)

Friday 5 February Adelaide Fowler’s Live, North Terrace

In other news, why'd they move the Sydney venue to somewhere that's practically unreachable by hoards of people and is technically a mental institute?

That Dude123 - why the whinge about the venue - we get out of smelly downtown sydney and out to a much better spot. it is literally 6.2km from Circular Quay - just walk!

Bitterness for not being in Sydney for this is a factor in my complaints. That said, when you all start complaining about how to get home and/or when the upper middle class complain to council about the noise, can't say I didn't warn you.

They don't perform much these days. I think it's a combination of kids and them all living in different cities. Warren is in Europe, Mick Turner lives in Melbourne and Jim White iirc now lives in New York.*

A show at Northcote Social Club would be great. I've seen them there and that was tops. Totally lovely.
