The Australian Festival Awards was met with an overwhelming response in 2009, leaving no doubt we’re a country of festival devotees. The winners were announced at a ceremony in Sydney tonight, which saw Australia’s hardest-working promoters come together to celebrate the stellar results of the past year.
Throughout the month of September, close to 250 festivals were nominated in the Festival Awards. Over 23,000 public votes from around Australia were tallied to decide the 11 category winners. The elements that come together to make a festival special – Management & Facilities, Line Up and Crowd & Atmosphere to name a few – have again been celebrated.
Victoria’s annual frolic Golden Plains Festival claimed the – œFavourite Festival’ honour for a second year running, ensuring its mythical reputation lives on.
It’s in esteemed company, too. With great fanfare, we present to you the winners in the 2009 Australian Festival Awards…
