Glaswegian sensations Franz Ferdinand will return to Australia in February 2010 as part of the Future Music Festival tour.

The band was last here to bring in 2009 at Falls Festival, road-testing songs from third album Tonight: Franz Ferdinand. While they are perhaps a surprise booking for FMF’s electronic-focused line-up, the Franz men made no secret their latest record is built for the dancefloor.

In an interview with FasterLouder today, bassist Robert Hardy confirmed the band is in for the full national circuit. The first line-up is not announced until next Monday 12 October.

Yesterday, Future Music Festival confirmed its first headliner is ARIA hero(es) Empire Of The Sun. On the evidence of these two names, there may be more in this for FLers than usual.
