Melbourne Big Day Out sold out

Continuing the charmed run of Big Day Out 2010, all general release tickets to the Melbourne event were pounced on this morning. The sell-out is a watershed for the festival, as this January’s romp at Flemington Racecourse sold slower than the likes of Gold Coast and Sydney.

If you didn’t claim one of the 45,000 coveted tickets today, 5000 tickets have been withheld for the online ballot. Each week 500 tickets for the 2010 Melbourne BDO will be made available on our website via an online randomly drawn ballot. You’ll need to try your luck if you’re keen to party with Muse, The Horrors, The Mars Volta and the rest.

Judging by the rest of the line up BDO is not worth my hard earned $$$'s

Muse would be great but they will do side shows that blow their BDO performance out of the water!

it my first bdo as well. i'm so excited!!
i stayed up late but missed out and managed to get them this morning. definetly worth the sleep deprivation

the line up has had the desired (and predictable) result.

heard dougy from temper trap being interviewed on radio today... didn't sound impressed there was a second sydney BDO (he didn't know!).

absolutely fuming bdo will not implement the named ticketing schemes other shows will do, there are six pages on ebay selling bdo tickets (with 20 available mind you!) at $250 to $300 a pop.

I guess the combination of Muse a la Twilight and Idol pop sensation help bring an already extremely popular festival into a bigger commercial light and marketplace.
