King Khan and The Shrinessideshows
Thu 8th Oct, 2009 in Local News
Fresh off the release of the greatest hits of their greatest hits The Supreme Genius of King Khan and The Shrines, the 11-piece psychedelic-soul big-band explosion make their first trip to Australian this December.
With sets already announced for the Falls, Sunset Sounds and Southbound festivals, King Khan and The Shrines have just added headline sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney.
With their anarchic, horn-bedecked, luchador-masked live act King Khan & the Shrines have been called everything from psychedelic food for the soul to James Brown worth funk-n-punk.
The line-up of this super bad ass eleven piece soul inferno includes 60 year-old Chicago-born Ron Streeter (the live-percussionist of Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, and many other soul legends) and a horn section consisting of Simon Wojan, Ben Ra and French rockabilly saxophonist Big Fred Rollercoaster.
King Khan and The Shrines sideshows are on sale on Friday 16 October
Monday 4 January – Ding Dong Lounge, Melbourne
Wednesday 6 January – Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
