Second Sydney Big Day Out

After the rapid sell-out of Big Day Out in Sydney, organisers have added a second show. The same line-up will return to Sydney Showgrounds the following day – Saturday 23 January – for another day in the sun.

It’s only the second time in the festival’s history that two Big Day Outs have run in one city. 23 January will be the 100th Big Day Out staged, making this quite a momentous occasion. Expect a big party atmosphere…and maybe a few surprises.

Friday January 22nd – SYDNEY – Sydney Showground – SOLD OUT!
Saturday January 23rd – SYDNEY – Sydney Showground – ON SALE MON OCT 12

Robbie Buck was giving clues about this morning on Triple J - talking about how in 2004 they also did 2 Sydney shows.

Coincidently both Muse and The Mars Volta played that double show as well!

I remember the last Big Day Out i went too, a drunk ogre of a man tried to fight a girl and her boyfriend :D

i find it highly amusing that people think the second show was a direct result of the first selling out... DA's would have to have been to council 6 mths ago, it was always planned. it's not like you can turn around and say lets just do another show. ken west is well aware of the bogans and their love for festivals in sydney. fuk you could sell out a festival hosted by the wiggles as long as VB was on sale

thank god, got ready to get tix at 9 on wednesday and they were sold out before 9 >_> extreme fail ticketmaster. gogo 2nd show, i wonder how well the first will go down since there's a second going on sale and a comparitively large amount of tix for the friday show were sold to scalpers (as according to news.com.au anyway). Poor adelaide, their show is on a tuesday >_>

Why? If he'd had proper scalping protection in place, lots more people would have got tickets to the first show, and it still would have sold out, and they could still have a second show, and that would sell out too...

Sorry, but "Surprise-second-show-that-scalpers-can-still-scalp-for" is not an effective anti-scalping technique...

There are just so many other things festival organisers should focus their efforts on to improve their festival before they worry about scalpers.

I agree, as has been pointed out by anyone with half a brain numerpus times previously.

Scalpers might get 1 percent of the tickets - tops.

A show sells out in an hour.

If scalpers didnt buy any then the same show would take 36 seconds longer to sellout.

36 EXTRA FUCKING SECONDS

With 36 extra seconds to buy tickets in a scalper free environment will that stop you all bitching about missing out?

I think not.

As such scalping is not the issue here is it.
