Vampire Weekend here inNovember

New York City four-piece Vampire Weekend is headed back here this November for one show in Sydney. The well-heeled lads were last here for Splendour In The Grass 2008, following their breakout self-titled debut album.

A listing on Moshtix and on the Vampire Weekend MySpace has the band locked in for an intimate show at Oxford Art Factory on Saturday 21 November.

While no other dates have yet been announced, this could be a promo tour to drum up hype for much-anticipated second LP Contra. Watch this space.

The Ting Tings did a similar thing before they played Big Day Out 2009, they had a couple of smallish promo shows in october/november before the festival tour.

well on their website they said that they reserved the right to change the date of sale for tickets.....so that isnt false advertising as it was there plain and simple on the website

this is bullcrap. been hanging out since i found out they were coming, checking moshtix in case they did 'change the date of sale'. very carefully didn't use my woefully full credit card so there was just enough to buy 3 tickets...
i guess to be a true fan you have to be mega-geek that spends more time on a band's website than listening to their music?

i was under the impression it was fan-club members, not just mailing list.
but it's still pretty mean to advertise tickets with a sale date, and then not let anyone get them.

Maybe they are just testing the waters, new album Contra is out soon. No point doing a full tour before the newie is released.

New single is available on their website. I don't find it so catchy.

It was a small show dedicated to their biggest fans, obviously they'll be back next year to play to everyone. I don't know why everyone is getting upset about it...

i think what people are upset about is that it was advertised on moshtix with tickets on sale to the general public and then they took them away.
and look, ok they are overrated, not the greatest band, elitist indie-dickheads, whatever else you want to say. but people still wanted to see them. you didn't. that's fine. but others did. and it was dangled infront of us and then ripped away in a spectacularly unprofessional (aka typical moshtix) way.
but yeah they'll be back, and i'll be going!

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this thread is about Vampire Weekend.

Everyone needs to wash the sand out of their vagina. It's a promo tour. They're playing a small show in a bunch of countries so the press will come and write things to make people talk about their upcoming album. It'll be full of industry people so not that much fun anyway, and they'll be back pretty damn soon anyway.

Just out of curiosity though, how are Vampire Weekend elitist? Because they went to college?

Very latin. Check my blog for my review. And I doubt it: Chris Thomson told me himself that they've only rehearsed six of their new album tracks. So unless triple J wants you all out of there in 30 minutes (could happen) you're getting the 16 song setlist.

Last nights show was really good. They change the songs up enough to remain interesting, and they sound extremely slick. Notes Newtown is a cool venue too. they have crowd drink service: bartenders come to you, which is heaven.
