Parklife first weekend wrap-up
Wed 30th Sep, 2009 in Local News
From a dust-storm to the world’s furthest-flung city, Parklife enjoyed an eventful start over the weekend.
The back-to-back Brisbane and Perth editions heralded first-ever Australian shows from Empire Of The Sun, Metric, La Roux, Junior Boys and Little Boots, alongside returning festival heroes like The Rapture and Lady Sovereign.
With Lady Sov unofficially opening the tour at a Brisbane nightclub, the Riverstage and Botanic Gardens saw plenty of electric performances. As the review attests, local lights Art Vs Science commanded a vast crowd in the early afternoon, before a maelstrom of red dust threatened to upstage the party.
After Luke Steele touted the “epic ecstasy” of the Empire Of The Sun stage-show, there was a rush to see it unveiled. Check out these exclusive photos of the lunacy in action.
Frantic rushing between stages was again the order of the day in Perth, with the FasterLouder review touting EOTS’s set as “something truly special”. Despite the departure of key member Mattie Safer, The Rapture still delivered a rousing finish on the Fire Stage.
