HEALTH a Laneway contender?

Sonic experimentalists HEALTH this week told The Dwarf they’ll be visiting Australia for the first time in early-2010. Hot from the release of new album Get Color, the LA outfit is hoping to bring its frenzied songs to us.

“We are very excited,” John Famiglietti revealed to The Dwarf in an interview. “See you in February.” Just in time for Laneway Festival, perhaps? If the HEALTH live show is anything like Get Color (read the album review on FL) we’re in for a pummelling.

Really enjoyed the last two Laneways. Will definitely be going again.

The Brisbane Hold Steady set was a bit lacklustre, cos the bass amp gave out, and they spent nearly 10 minutes noodling while waiting to get it fixed, and then went ahead and played 2 songs without it when they couldnt fix it anyway...

Has Laneway grown so huge now that you cant really have it on a true laneway?

Up here in Brissie, its was a loose connection to Laneway, as one of the stages was on a blocked-off road, which is quite wide with lots of space.

From the sounds of things, all of the Melbourne problems stemmed from the fact that the laneway space for each stage was too small, and since the whole thing was laneways, people also couldnt get around either - time to upgrade to a couple of wider streets?

Foals
Atlas Sound
Starfucker
Either of Gibbard, Yorke, Oberst or Mercer's new projects.

Any one of those bands and it will be amazing. However, there are so many other bands that are due to tour here that would equally as exciting.

First round lineup was released on 13 October last year, so hopefully we will see what the 2010 lineup looks like next Monday.

the guy from mumford and sons confirmed on triple j the other day that they'd be playing laneway next year...so there's another name to throw into the mix.

I guess we'll see who else on tuesday .
Hopefully it's a better line up that this years and more like the previous years (broken social scene, yo la tengo, feist, stars etc. )

i'd say they'll probably do late feb and golden plains unless they are the second round of laneway announcements.
