Animal Collective sideshows

One of the most-anticipated announcements of the year has finally arrived. In addition to headlining Meredith Music Festival, Animal Collective is making time for five sideshows in December.

Since delivering a bid for album of the year with Merriweather Post Pavilion, the Baltimore noise-makers have maintained a dizzying tour schedule. The band’s live show takes their transcendental psych-pop to even more thrilling heights. In short, these are not performances you want to pass up.

Animal Collective play these shows in December, supported by New Zealand’s Bachelorette. Tickets on sale Friday 25 September.

Thursday 10 December – The Tivoli, Brisbane
Friday December 11 – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Monday December 14 – Forum Theatre, Melbourne Sold Out
Tuesday December 15 – Prince Bandroom, Melbourne
Thursday December 17 – Capitol, Perth

I've heard so much good stuff about their live shows, can't wait to check it out for myself. I can't get to Meredith so Enmore will have to do!

To incite violence in the forums I'm gonna say....

This is way too much Hype.

There is a lot of hype. I like them, but I'm not rabid about it.

got my tickets this morning, just checked back now....suprised they havent sold out any shows yet, i thought tickets would be snapped up quite quickly....

lineofbestfit

lineofbestfit said on the 25th Sep, 2009

its due to it being sixty dollars or so and aside from the hipsters they don't have a 'buzz' mind you it took a high profile band like death cab a month to sell out enmore on the second narrow stairs tour.

libby

libby said on the 25th Sep, 2009

i had forgotten about the on-sale date, so I was pretty happy to get some dancefloor Enmore tickets about 5 minutes ago

looking forward to it (agreed the hype may outweigh the reality, but seeing I haven't caught a live performance, I guess I'll find that out for myself)

dkos

dkos said on the 25th Sep, 2009

There was a good reason for that.

lineofbestfit

dkos death cab are a far better artists than whatever shite conor is doing, bright eyes only had one/two decent songs.

I saw both Death Cab for Cutie and Conor Oberst at The Enmore last year. I have to say I thought Conor Oberst was better. Both were good though.

lineofbestfit

lineofbestfit said on the 25th Sep, 2009

Ben Gibbard is a genius you didn't see Kerouacs estate offering Conor to write a soundtrack for Big sur did you?

Braveheart81

Braveheart81 said on the 25th Sep, 2009

Probably because Death Cab for Cutie had already written a song called Bixby Canyon Bridge.

lineofbestfit

lineofbestfit said on the 25th Sep, 2009

Also because Ben is a much better songwriter/dude/singer.

For a random segue in this thread, here is my photo of Bixby Canyon Bridge.

Note: This was taken a couple of years before the DCFC song existed. It wasn't some fanboy journey to the place.

As far as 'banging' goes (so to speak) - yes, I do have higher standards. You can breathe a sigh of relief!
