THE SECOND LINE-UP HAS ARRIVED – CHECK IT OUT HERE.

On Thursday 17 September, Falls Festival will unveil the next batch of acts set to bring in the New Year at Lorne and Marion Bay. The official Falls Twitter feed today heralded the news: “More BIG international & national ARTISTS being announced Sept 17.”

For the punters already eagerly clamouring to join the ticket ballot, any more bands will just be a bonus. The first line-up boasted enough to get excited about: the kaleidoscopic live show of headliners Yeah Yeah Yeahs, sweet serenades from Grizzly Bear, inspired party freakouts with King Khan and the Shrines and so much more.

So who can we expect for round two? Earlier this week, Belgian mash-up masters 2manydjs were added to the line-up for New Zealand’s own NYE camping extravaganza Rhythm & Vines. An appearance from their live incarnation Soulwax would certainly fit the festive mood at Falls. Otherwise, it’s all down to rumours, with hopeful names like Bat For Lashes and the Horrors doing the rounds.

Don’t forget, general tickets for Falls Festival go on sale Wednesday 9 September. If Twitter is to be believed, this is the year to experience the splendour of Marion Bay. “Nothing quite like watching fave band with ocean & cliff tops as backdrop,” Falls organisers wrote. “Seems The Falls best kept secret is out – everyone’s headin’ to Tas.”

The ballot system this year was shit. Applied straight away, and didn't get anything, apart from the chance to get Tassie tix, but thats way to expensive. Pretty disapointed right now. :(

there's a good chance that any big bands that get added to Falls will also get added to Sunset Sounds, so bris sideshows might not be necessary...

the second lineup usually contains at least 3-4 decent internationals and the rest local acts. kasabian and passion pit with a bit of luck.

So now that Lorne has sold out, I assume the additions will be Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Portishead and Shaun Micallef's The Cure, right?

I'm already pretty happy with the lineup.

I've heard rumours of Passion Pit and Simian Mobile Disco. Also, now that 2manydjs are in the equation, Soulwax.

Any of them would be awesome, but Passion Pit exspeshially.

It's very possible that 2manydjs would just tour as DJs and not bring the full Soulwax band. On that topic - saw them at Summer Sonic and the drummer is quite a powerhouse.

I have signed up to the ballot every year since it started and have never had any luck. I went to every falls up until that ballot and havent been back since. Terrible Terrible System.

Bat for Lashes, Passion Pit, 2 Many DJs, XX and Dirty Projectors on second line up seems a bit too good to be true... I would have suspected mostly locals on round two.

The fact that a lot of the first time ever in Australia bands are current buzz acts means it's possible they would be much cheaper to book as they are untried out here. They might be in high demand by a niche section of Australia's music landscape, but for many they would be relatively unheard of.

Let's hope for some of them anyway. I'd love to see a few of them live.

yeah sucks ey! i missed out last year for the first time in a few years.. then this year i got the hot tip off a mate to put my post code as a lorne resident (3232) when subscribing for tickets, as they get looked after.

Someone at a gig I went to said they were definitely bringing the show here, it just hadnt been announced yet, nudge nudge wink wink say no more, but that was AAAGES ago, and nothing has been announced since then, so I dont know..

the xx have a show in usa on 1st of jan but i guess they could still play....
i got the ballot unexpectedly this year,
i think 2nd lineup will involve at least some of kasabian, pnau, jebadiah and the cribs
