Maximo Park return

Livewire Brits Maximo Park are set to quicken our hearts in November with five theatre shows. The sartorial five-piece was last here in March 2008 to headline Playground Weekender and a few raucous sideshows.

Since that visit, the band has delivered its third studio effort Quicken The Heart, which NME breathlessly proclaimed as “the first great album of the latest great recession”. Led by mercurial frontman Paul Smith, the Maximo Park live show is similarly accustomed to high praise. Check out the reviews from the 2008 tour as testament to their onstage charms.

Maximo Park play these shows in November. Tickets on sale Friday 11 September.

Wednesday November 11 – Billboard, Melbourne
Thursday November 12 – The Hi Fi, Brisbane
Friday November 13 – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Sunday November 15 – Fowlers Live, Adelaide
Tuesday November 17 – Capitol, Perth

Very excited, although billboards is shit. Hopefully it sells out and gets shifted.

wow, the HiFi? its really quite a small venue in brisbane? i thought Maximo were a little more popular than to fill out the HiFi?

Why? They played there in March supporting Kaiser Chiefs, and even with both bands they couldn't sell out the venue

great news. saw them at glasto earlier this year for a solid set weighted heavily on the first two albums. thankfully.

Not as good, 2nd is still pretty good and the 3rd one hasn't taken my fancy as much.
Still some good tracks on both albums tho
