The Rogers Sisters' Love OfDiagrams
Wed 30th Mar, 2005 in Local News
Sometimes band names can be misleading. There was the Ben Folds Five, with a total of three members. Bon Jovi and Marilyn Manson are named after their front men with apparent disregard for the other anonymous background musicians (anybody ever heard of some dude called Richie Sambora? Didn’t think so). And then there’s Brooklyn’s The Rogers Sisters. Sure, Laura (drums) and Jennifer (guitar/vocals) are really sisters, but then there’s bassist Miyuki Furtado. Of no relation.
Family matters aside, the band has toured in support of The International Noise Conspiracy and The Raveonettes and their second album Three Fingers, released locally last year won praise for its twitchy guitar lines and dance-floor filling sounds.
The Rogers Sisters will tour Australia in May, and promising an infectious live show coupled with renditions of tracks such as Freight Elevator and Fantasies Are Nice, you won’t want to be anywhere else. Not enough for you? Bear in mind that Melbourne’s fabulous Love Of Diagrams will open at each show, and that Popfrenzy Records will be releasing a limited-edition Rogers Sisters tour EP on sale at all shows, following the release of last year’s Les Savy Fav tour EP.
Check out The Rogers Sisters at the following venues:
Saturday, May 14 – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Wednesday, May 18 – Grace Emily Hotel, Adelaide
Thursday, May 19 – Annandale Hotel, Sydney
Saturday, May 21 – The Rev, Brisbane
Each show is $18 + booking fee with tickets on sale from the usual outlets.
