With an EP of new material due on 2 October, UK greats Massive Attack have revealed they’ll be bringing their live show back to Australia around February. Speaking to Triple J’s Richard Kingsmill this week, Daddy G dropped the news fans have been waiting impatiently to hear.
“We’re coming over soon so that’s going to be great isn’t it?” he said. “We’ll be over there sort of February.” The man also shed some light on the group’s 2010-slated album, revealing they’ve enlisted DFA Records co-founder Tim Goldsworthy to help nail it down.
The forthcoming EP, entitled Split The Atom, will act as a taster for what’s to come on Massive Attack’s first full-length album since 2003’s 100th Window. As with any Massive Attack release, the group have recruited some fine vocal talent for Split The Atom.
The guest-list includes frequent collaborator Horace Andy for the title track, as well as TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe on Pray For Rain. Elsewhere on the EP the band have hooked up with Martina Topley-Bird on Psyche and Elbow’s Guy Garvey for Bulletproof Love.
