In support of the imminent release of new radio single Different Light, pop quartet Songs will embark on a short tour of the country in September. Having supported international acts like Atlanta-based Deerhunter, Songs have built a strong live following over the last 12 months here and across the Tasman, touring New Zealand last July.
Time Out magazine hailed them “a spring breeze through your record collection…without knowing it when The Pixies wrote Here Comes Your Man, they were trying to be Songs.”
Now based in Sydney, three quarters of Songs hail from across the pond and in the tradition of Kiwi bands like The Bats, Songs make bright blissful pop for those with short attention spans. For a taste, hit up the band’s MySpace or check out a live acoustic set recorded for Radio New Zealand National.
The Songs Australian tour will visit:
Thursday September 10 – Hopetoun Hotel, Sydney
Friday September 11 – The Troubadour, Brisbane
Friday September 25 – The Metro, Adelaide
Saturday September 26 – Roxanne Parlour, Melbourne
