Full Nas headline tour dates

With talk already buzzing in the FasterLouder forums, full national dates have been announced for The – œlow:fi’ Tour. Headed by none other than Nas in his first headline circuit of Australia, the all-killer bill is a treat for hip hop heads.

At most shows, the New York star will be flanked by Jurassic 5’s booming baritone Chali 2na. After many triumphant tours over the years, the man is returning to our shores with his new four-piece live show. Keeping the calibre high is world-beating turntablist Qbert and his offsider on the mic MC Supernatural.

Recognised as one of the eminent wordsmiths in hip hop, Nas was last here warming the stage for Kanye West in late 2008. From all reports, he gave the headliner stiff competition. These October shows should prove the ideal platform for the man to flex his lyrical muscle.

Wed 28th October – The Palace Metro Theatre, Melbourne (NAS ONLY)
Thurs 29th October – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide (NAS ONLY)
Friday 30th October – The Esplanade Hotel, Melbourne (CHALI 2NA, QBERT & MC SUPERNATURAL)
Sat 31st October – The Enmore Theatre, Sydney (NAS, CHALI 2NA, QBERT & MC SUPERNATURAL)
Sun 1st November, Island Vibe Festival (Stradbroke Island), Brisbane (CHALI 2NA ONLY)

i heard charlies new single on triple j on the weekend... well im assuming it was, it was him. Very underwhelming. Actually, very shit. Im thinking he may need the goodness of J5 and Cut and to even a lesser extent galactic and boots riley to make him shine. it was just bland

Id buy tickets for an Illmatic show thats for sure!
Not real keen on the last couple of Nas releases though.

hmm, I don't mind some of his other stuff. There's some cool tracks on It Was Written, Stillmatic, God's Son and Streets Disciple, even a couple from I Am... and Nastradamus.

I haven't paid attention to the two since then, but I've heard that the latest one is shite.

I think he'll probably perform:

A large portion of Illmatic
Street Dreams, The Message and If I Ruled the World
Nas is Like
Maybe Nastradamus?
One Mic (for sure)
Made You Look
Get Down
Disciple
Nazareth Savage (I hope)
etc

I know he did a few odd choices when he supported Kanye in November last year (for example, Hate Me Now), but that was for a Kanye crowd.

Made ya look was a tough as song....Im missing the newer two lp's you havent heard either plus streets disciple got past me but if its an earlier album I'll have to hit up itunes on that one.

If he drops the playlist you just wrote Im keen!
Might have to see what the boys are up to when the sydney shows on.

Streets Disciple came out after God's Son. It's a double album, so there's a bit of filler. My favourite tracks are:

The band was really talented, but I would've preferred less 'rocky' versions and have Nas at the forefront throughout. That was my quibble with the show. I felt he was a bit obscured

What Dkos said. Loved it. At first felt his Kanye support gig was better but am now starting to feel as if they were pretty much on par.

I find hip-hop shows suck a little if the rapper stands out too much. Immersing yourself within a live band gives the show a slightly less synthetic touch. I was way happier with what was there instead of a set of cdj's and mic.

Great show. Qbert and Supernat were both thoroughly involving and entertaining. Talented.

Nas was great as expected. Part of me would rather have seen it without such a strong focus on the band setup. I would like to have heard a lot of the tracks with their original beats, and I don't like the montage thing for the Illmatic and It Was Written tracks, but with so many tracks that I wanted to hear, it's probably for the best.

Yea. I enjoyed this one more because I was standing really close to the stage (the intimacy of the Enmore as opposed to Acer was good).

Yeah I was about 5 people back in the very middle and felt a lot more involved than the time before, that's for sure. It's odd, but that show has left a much more lasting impression than Wu-Tang did a few days earlier. And I gotta say that I enjoy his montage of Illmatic/It Was Written tracks. As much as I love both albums I cbf to stand and watch any band/musician do +3 hours worth of material, and the fact that the tracks blend so well together means that they complement one another damn nicely.
