The Annandale to honour MagicDirt bassist
Tue 25th Aug, 2009 in Local News
Magic Dirt have postponed their upcoming tour until further notice after the tragic passing of founding member and bass player Dean Turner. In the place of a show scheduled at the Annandale Hotel for Friday 28th August, the organisers will be putting a show together in Dean’s memory featuring local and high profile artists, with all proceeds going to the Turner Family.
The band has issued a statement describing Turner as “the linchpin, the heart and soul of the band, the rock, the glue, the oracle, the cool filter…the backbone of the Magic Dirt sound”. “Dean worked tirelessly because music was one of the greatest joys in his life”, the statement said.
Matthew and Daniel Rule of the Annandale, offering their deepest condolences to the Turner and Magic Dirt families, promise to help out the best way they know – by putting together a show in his honour. Details will soon be announced.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr Dean James Turner will be held at the Northcote Town Hall. 198 High St, Northcote on Friday 28th August at 11.30am.
