Meanies at Cherry

Bootleg is turning the heat on Friday August 28th when they present The Meanies at Cherry Bar, AC/DC Lane.

The Meanies are a Melbourne institution who came together way back in 1989 and immediately made a name for themselves with their energetic live shows. That reputation saw them earn their place supporting international luminaries such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, Bad Brains, Redd Kross, Superchunk, Fugazi and the Hard-Ons.

Now a three piece – Link, Ringo and Wally Meanie (Melbourne indie rock’s own Zelig) – the band are still a vital act twenty years into their career. After a Meanies gig earlier this year FasterLouder’s reviewer noted the band have lost none of their legendary stage presence: “early Meanies gigs were infamous for being highly charged affairs, with Link’s antics becoming quite notorious amongst Melbourne’s live-scene throughout the late 80s and early 90s, and this gig reminded everybody of just how intense those shows could be.”

Their intimate gig at Cherry comes with support from The Once Overs and The Losers and DJs spinning classic punk rock between the sets.

You’d have to be more than 10% weird to miss this one!
