Iconic Aussie rock photos atThe Raw Gallery

The Raw Gallery in South Melbourne presents a showcase celebrating iconic Australian musicians from the 1960s through to today.

This free exhibition runs from Friday the 21st August until Wednesday 16th of September.

The exhibition recognizes the work of Australia’s finest ‘home-grown’ rock photographers from the past five decades, with over 35 shots from promotional material and magazine articles as well as a few that have graced album covers. This is the first time many of these images have been assembled together, exhibited and made available for purchase as limited edition fine art prints.

Photographers featured in the exhibition include Philip Morris, Wendy McDougall, Greg Noakes, Colin Beard, Richard Sharman, Kim Tonelli, David Corio, Craig Goldman, Serge Thomann, Mitchell Connelly, Kane Hibberd and the gallery’s owner, Kirsty Umback. (Kirsty’s photo of Pendulum at the Download Festival in 2008 accompanies this article.)

The musicians caught on film include Nick Cave, The Church, The Presets, Cold Chisel, Paul Kelly, INXS, AC/DC live at Victoria Park, The Easybeats eating bangers and mash, an unrecognisably young Johnny Farnham and many more.

The Raw Gallery is located at 250 Park Street, South Melbourne (just off Clarendon Street).
