Young and Restless have announced that their gig at the Arthouse in Melbourne this Friday will be their last. In a surprisingly casual Facebook message to their fans the band stated that, “Young And Restless has now been a band for four and a half years and consumed large parts of our lives. We never expected to make it as far as we have and we have been honoured and excited by all the interest and support from our friends, family, fans and fellow bands. Through relocating interstate, lineup changes, touring and recording we have all had our share of amazing times, but in the last few weeks it has become clear that this is the end of the road for our band. ”
Forming in 2005 and shooting to national recognition after winning Triple J Unearthed in 2006, Y&R quickly built a reputation as one of the best live bands in Australia, proving beyond doubt that good things can indeed come out of Canberra. Lead singer Karina Utomo’s unique vocals and propensity to put her body on the line at live gigs has garnered the band a feverish live following over the past four years. They will be greatly missed on the live circuit and we hope to see all members go on to even more exciting musical ventures.
Make sure you don’t miss Young and Restless’ last show 8pm, 21 August 2009 at Arthouse in Melbourne.
