Hooper Solo WA tour
Sat 15th Aug, 2009 in Local News
Ex-beast Brian Henry Hooper has toured and recorded with many of Australia’s best music exports over the years including Kim Salmon and the Surrealists, Beasts of Bourbon, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Rowland S Howard. But now he tours under his own name, and in pursuit of his own vision shared by the band who tours with him.
Since recovering from a balcony fall in which he broke his back, Hooper has released two full length solo albums; Lemon Lime and Bitter which is lauded by respected critics as intensely honest without being emo; and The Thing About Women recorded with Mick Harvey (Bad Seeds), Spencer P Jones (Beasts of Bourbon), Tony Pola (Beasts of Bourbon/Surrealists) and Steve Boyle.
His WA tour will visit Bunbury, Margaret River and Perth in as many days supported in Bunbury by Hayley Beth, and in Margaret River by Cal Peck and the Tramps, who are launching their debut EP. The Perth gig will be at the gorgeous Gilkisons Dance Studio on Sunday night supported by Mile End, The Painkillers and the Fags.
Hooper will be talking to Fasterlouder later this week, giving us an insight into his musical headspace and what we can expect from him in the near future.
Tour Dates:
Friday August 21 The Prince of Wales Hotel, Bunbury
Saturday August 22 Settlers Tavern, Margaret River
Sunday August 23 Gilksons Dance Studio
