After rocking out at Splendour in the Grass, Birds of Tokyo have announced a nationwide tour in early November that will see the quartet from Perth in full acoustic mode.

The band have rearranged their own music for the Broken Strings Tour format, working closely with renowned producer, composer and long-time collaborator, Anthony Cormican, who has scored the entire concert specifically for an orchestral arrangement.

Two years in the making, the tour will see the band accompanied onstage by a grand pianist and string quartet.

Vocalist Ian Kenny is in for a busy end to the year upon returning from a month long stint touring overseas with Karnivool promoting the global release of Sound Awake, West-Australian Music Industry’s – œBest Male Vocalist’ of 2007 will take three weeks off before embarking upon the Broken Strings Tour.

While moshing is usually encouraged, the upcoming Birds of Tokyo tour will be hosted in seated theatres Australia-wide, with the band ditching the distortion pedals and picking up a host of instruments from ukeleles to 12-string acoustic guitars.

With a growing fan base both here and overseas, the band previously nominated for Album of the Year in the J Awards promises a round of intimate and unforgettable shows that will be filmed for a 2010 DVD release.
