Two of the finest young live bands this country has to offer – Violent Soho and Talons – are heading out on a dual-headline tour of the east coast.

2009 has been a vital year for the boys from Violent Soho, who traded their Brisbane climes for the Welsh countryside to record a new album. The expectation is certainly high for what they come up with. Earlier this year, the band was poached by Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore to join his esteemed Ecstatic Peace label.

Sydney trio Talons is enjoying a similarly giddy trajectory, with a fine debut LP recently out. “A feisty and at times obstinate album, Talons is like nothing much else hailing from the Harbour City,” enthused FasterLouder’s reviewer. The group has garnered a reputation for scoring prime support slots, consistently impressing with a visceral live show.

Violent Soho and Talons will pool their powers for a joint tour in August.
